If you use a router to connect to the Net1 network, then the changes must be made to your Router (not your computer)
All routers share the following properties:
The WAN port - This is the port where the Net connection is inserted, for people who use routers, the new Net1 settings will be inserted onto the WAN port of your router.
The LAN port(s) - Most home routers have 4 LAN ports, these ports are used to connect your home computers, If the router is wireless, there will also be an antenna on the router - the wireless an be considered a 5th LAN port
Your router will ALWAYS be the "Gateway" address in your network configuration. You will need this address to access the settings of the router. There is a simple method of finding out this address.
Select your operating system:
- Microsoft Windows (All Versions)
-
Click "Start", then "Run", type COMMAND in the run box and hit Enter - this will open an MS DOS window.
At the DOS prompt, type in IPCONFIG and hit Enter. Your gateway address will be shown there opposite "Default Gateway", as shown:

Alternatively, in Windows, double click the icon for your network in the system tray (this will appear as two connected computers,
as in the image below):

Then, in the dialog box which appears, click the "Support" tab, and your gateway addreass will be shown there opposite
"Default Gateway", as shown:
- Other operating systems
-
We have yet to add detailed information on finding your "Gateway" address on operating systems other than Windows. If you need help with this, please contact our support service.
To make changes to your router's WAN port for the new Net1 settings you must open up your web browser and type the "Gateway" address which you have just found out into the address bar.
For illustration purposes, here we will show the changes being made on a Belkin Wireless Router. For other router brands, please refer to your routers documentation or contact our support service.
Open your web browser and type the "Gateway" IP address into the address bar at the top.
(Fig. 1 - Logging in)
Select "Connection Type" from the menu on the left and the router will ask you to log in. If you haven't logged in to your router already, the password will be blank - the default setting on Belkin routers.
(Fig. 2 - Connection Type)
From the list of connection types, select "Static IP Address" and click "Next".
(Fig. 3 - Entering static IP details)
Enter the IP address, subnet mask and Gateway information as provided to you by Net1 and click "Next". Then, on the next screen, enter the DNS settings, as provided to you by Net1 and click "Apply".
You may need to restart your router (under "Utilities" in the menu on the left) for the settings to take effect.
